Aghogho is an Antwerp-based project with a unique blend of soul, jazz and funk. As a singer and bass guitarist, Aghogho crafts a rich and distinctive sound rooted in warm vocals, deep bass lines, soft trumpet textures, and layered harmonies, all carried by irresistible funky rhythms. Her Nigerian name, Aghogho, meaning “child of God,” reflects the deep cultural identity woven into her music.
With her debut EP “17,” Aghogho introduces a vibrant fusion of soul, jazz and funk, infused with afrobeats and compelling grooves that are impossible to stand still to. Drawing from her half-Nigerian heritage, she brings an organic and rhythmic sensibility to her work. Her sound has already drawn comparisons to artists such as Nilüfer Yanya, Lianne La Havas, and Zap Mama.
Music has always been at the core of Aghogho’s life. She has been singing from a young age and has long been playing the piano, but it was during her studies that she truly developed her artistic voice. Recently graduating with a master’s degree from the Conservatory of Antwerp, she spent four years exploring and refining her sound through experimentation with instruments, polyphony, rhythm, and production tools like Ableton.
In December 2025, Aghogho won Sound Track, marking an important milestone in her rising career. She is currently working on a new EP set to be released later this year via Mayway Records, with a first single expected before the summer. Deeply rooted in the Antwerp music scene, she calls Trix her home base, where she is also a resident artist.
