Simon is one of those artists who can't be pigeonholed, but rather resides in transit between different genres. He first appeared on the surface as a rapper, but struck out in a new direction around 2019, solo and in a different genre. On his debut album “Zoveel Nog Te Doen” (2022), Simon presented himself as a crooner of the new generation, albeit one of the particularly tasteful kind. His specialty? Lead-heavy themes, but brought feather light, like a balm for the soul. The Basque Antwerp native has steadily built up a fan base around him, looking forward to new work from his hand.

And they won't have to wait long because in recent years, Simon has retreated to the studio to work and polish new material. The result? Fundamental pop that grabs from a grab bag of different genres and is unparalleled in this language area, packaged in eleven songs that strike the perfect balance between raw, melancholy and just plain uncomplicated beauty. Forward first singles “Kapot,” “Als het neerstort” and “Hetzelfde” (feat. Flip Kowlier) make one thing clear: with this album, Simon could well reach much of the country. Fans will have to wait until this fall for the full album, but those who see him and his rock-solid new live band at work before then can already enjoy several unreleased songs.
